Brooklyn Bridge and NYC Skyline at Dusk
Friday, March 12, 2010 at 12:15AM
This is one of my favorite places to watch the sunset in New York. It's a little spot called "Brooklyn Bridge Park". You can get there by taking the A or the C train to High Street. Before heading to the water you can stop into Powerhouse Books, or get some chocolate at Jacques Torres on Water Street. Of course once you get to the park, the view of lower Manhattan is just beautiful. To show the wispy motion of the water I used a 13 second exposure after a passing water taxi caused small waves to form with its wake.
Camera settings: 17-40mm, f11, 13", ISO 400.

Absolutely gorgeous! Now that is a scene I miss since moving to NJ!
Wow, this is a breathtaking exposure. Nice capture!
Maggie, I've read that the view from Liberty Park in Jersey is also quite special. David, thank you for the feedback.
Stunning! one of the best I have seen from this traditional POV. Hope to get to NYC some day!
Thank you Bob! That's one of the tough things about this spot. How do you make something your own when it's been photographed so often? Behind me were about 100 or more tourists. Yet, I was the last one on the shore long after everyone else left. That is when this shot was made.
Sheer brilliance - love it!
Hi Nat, thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated.
Great Shot! Love it! I need to visit NYC someday. I would just need to bring many many many flash cards.
Thanks Ed, we have skyscrapers but you have much better weather!
There's not a place to get coffee? If there's not a place to get coffee I'm not interested.... ;)
Beautiful Chris!
Come on now Lexi, this is the city that never sleeps. That could only be possible with coffee. Decaf for me :)
Very nice shoot Chris.
Thanks for the comment Sergio.
What a great spot. I went to Brooklyn Bridge Park tonight - the view is just brilliant! Locals, tourist and a wedding company bustled about. Without your blog, I would not have gone there. Thanks!
