Calm Before the Storm

A rich sky stretches over the north shore of Long Island at sunrise on August 26th, 2011.

On my peaceful morning hike, you would have never guessed a Hurricane was nearing.  Everything was very still, and just a touch humid.  The air smelled of freshly cut grass, and horses neighed in the distance.  I shot this with the 17-40 on a tripod to capture the moment.

Hey Chris, wish you well, my Friend, especially if you are on the North Shore of Long Island. I know you will capture some fantastic images, but try to be safe while you do so. At my age I would not want to be there but you are young and I know find this exciting. Take care and may God be with you.

BTW... love the photo... :-)
