Tennis at Bryant Park

Yesterday at Bryant Park, their were several exhibition matches to help promote the 2009 US Open. The event started at 11am, and there was barely a cloud in the sky. Temperatures were in the 90's, and I had my Canon 40D and 70-200 f2.8 ready to go. There were two courts, so I wasn't sure which one to position myself at. I wanted to be in an area where I could photograph both Serena Williams (in pink) and Venus Williams (in green). Luckily, the sisters played their exhibition match right in front of me and I was able to capture some images of them. The event was televised by ESPN, and sponsored by Direct TV who also had a blimp in the sky. Almost all of the shots were taken around f2.8, 1/8000, and ISO 400. Agony of the Feat

I was going through some images from the NYSHSAA Cross Country Championships and put together this little collage to show the fierce determination of these athletes.

Snowboard Multimedia Show Just Days Away From Launch

I've narrowed the photo selection from the Red Bull Snowscrapers event to 30 images, and am now ready to edit the audio aspect of the presentation. If everything goes as planned the show should be ready in a few days! I'm pretty psyched to see it all come together. I'll post the link when its all set to go.

Frozen in NYC

The real feel was 5 degrees at the Redbull Snowscrapers event. As you can see, I was quite prepared for it. Yet, it quickly became apparent that I was crossing the line between downright cold and actual frostbite. I stayed as long as I could, and then did my best speedwalking routine to the F train. It was one of those walks where it seems your legs just can't keep up with how fast your upper body wants to move. That coupled with about 20 pounds of gear on my back and I likely looked like a cross between a mountaineering backpacker and one of those odd power walkers. Nevertheless, it was a great experience to photograph these incredible athletes. Many thanks to the event organizers and snowboarders for putting on such a great show. I hope to begin editing the images and sound over the next week.

Redbull Snowscrapers, NYC

Some of the best snowboarders in the country came to New York City to compete in the RedBull Snowscrapers event. There was high energy, and big air. I also gathered some rocking audio and will be putting together a multimedia presentation from the event. Check back soon for more images.

NY State Championships, Cross Country

I shot the NY Cross Country State Championship races this weekend at Sunken Meadow State Park. Some of the finishing times were unreal, with a few runners coming in under 16 minutes. That's pretty incredible for a difficult 3.1 mile course. Hats off to all the competitors for a job well done. For a complete list of the results, click here.
