Using "live view", I manually focused on the red leaf in the foreground. The camera was on my Gitzo tripod which is able to go all the way down to the ground. I find this feature to be a necessity for my style of nature photography. Sometimes you gotta get down and dirty to get the shot. The leaves were backlit by the setting sun which allowed the colors to really glow.
If you look closely at the top left corner you can see a bit of lens flare from the sun. Lens flare is a matter of personal taste. I think if you use it properly it can add an interesting element to your photo.
