Photographer Eliot Porter said "Sometimes you can tell a large story with a tiny subject".
When most people think about telling a story with a camera, they mistakenly limit it to photojournalists who shoot pictures of news for the papers. Yet, in nature, there are also stories to be told. However, in order to truly capture the ebb and flow of the natural world, nature photographers need to look closely at the small things. I find the forest floor to be an ideal place for such exploration. At first glance, you may not see anything that grabs your attention. Keep looking. Only upon close observation do these miniature examples make themselves apparent.
“You learn to see by practice. It's just like playing tennis, you get better the more you play. The more you look around at things, the more you see. The more you photograph, the more you realize what can be photographed and what can't be photographed. You just have to keep doing it.” - Eliot Porter
