Tonight, I'll be photographing the "Tribute in Lights" around the Manhattan and Brooklyn area. With two DSLR's, fast lenses, a flash unit, filters, and a tripod, I'm carrying close to 30 lbs of gear. The reason for this post is not to complain about the weight, but rather to highlight an alternative method. While so many of us lug around backpacks and rolling carts full of gear, Alex Majoli is winning major awards for his coverage of war torn areas using a couple of pocket sized point and shoot cameras. This article is further proof that a photographer's skills are more important than even the most advanced DSLR's on the market today.
