Releasing "Coco" the seal
It was 20 degrees and windy, but for Coco the seal, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research & Preservation, and the several dozen people who gathered, it was a good day. Coco is a juvenile Harbor seal who was rescued on November 26th, 2008, and rehabilitated by the Foundation. He was deemed healthy enough to be returned to the wild, and rejoin the other seals. Through the use of a satellite tag, his location will be monitored by the Foundation. The next release is scheduled for Saturday February 7th, at noon.
