Hortons Point Lighthouse at Dusk
Last night Sue and I took an impromptu roadtrip out to Eastern Long Island to look for this old lighthouse. It's called "Hortons Point", and is located on the North shore here. The history behind the light is pretty interesting. It was actually commissioned by President George Washington in 1790. If you are a history buff, or love lighthouse details, this website gets pretty in depth. While we were there swatting mosquitoes and waiting for the sun to set, we saw an Osprey fishing over the Long Island Sound. There were also a bunch of serious fishermen with multiple rods trying their luck. Here's my catch of the day. Camera settings: Canon 40D, 17-40mm lens @ 17mm, f11, 30 seconds.
