Black Skimmers

This morning I jetted over to Nickerson Beach in Long Island to photograph some Black Skimmers. They are nesting there, but I really prefer not to disturb them as they get very stressed out. In fact, they are listed as a species of "special concern" by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. I was more interested in watching them come back towards the nest from the ocean. I was hoping to see them catch some fish, but it just didn't happen. Ironically, I also ran into a fisherman who said he had no luck either. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful morning, and I was content listening to the call of the birds, and the roar of the ocean.
