A Pier to Anchor From

Sometimes it helps to have a place to think, far from the highway, and closer to nature. On a recent evening I found this old pier on the bay side of Robert Moses State Park in New York. It's not a particularly well kept dock, and seems to get more use from the Seagulls than actual fishermen. This lack of activity is likely due to its location, approximately 1.5 miles from the nearest parking lot. Perhaps that's why I'm fond of it. Being inaccessible by car, there is a surprising absence of man-made sound. In this silence I size up the landscape and capture an image to commemorate the moment.

Wishing you some relaxation on this holiday weekend.
