Six Do's and Don'ts of Building a Portfolio

Start with your best image

Have different portfolios for different types of work, IE: Weddings, Sports, Travel, etc

Think quality over quantity

Ask other people for their honest opinion

Keep the viewing experience in mind

Finish Strong

Don't forget how important first impressions are.

Don’t apologize for an image in your portfolio.

Never add more pictures for the sake of adding more volume.

Refrain from adding any photos that suffer from exposure problems, lack of sharpness, or other technical issues.

Don’t think of your portfolio as being “finished”. It should always be evolving with new photos going in, and old photos coming out.

Don’t give up! If your first portfolio doesn't land you the job, keep working towards your goals.
